Mary’s Home offers a wide range of different types of activities, ensuring there are options to suit all of our residents, regardless of their interests and ability. No-one is forced to join our activities, but we do encourage our residents to be involved to increase their social interaction, mental stimulation and most importantly, their enjoyment. Our activities are designed to be engaging, educational and most of all FUN!
Painting & Crafts
Painting and craft activities bring joy and creativity to life at Mary’s Home, offering residents a meaningful way to express themselves and stay engaged. These activities stimulate the mind, encourage social interaction, and provide a sense of accomplishment, boosting self-esteem and overall well-being. Crafting also helps maintain fine motor skills and can evoke fond memories, creating opportunities for storytelling and connection. Most importantly, these activities foster a warm, inclusive environment where residents can share laughter, ideas, and a sense of purpose.

Gardening
We encourage Mary’s Home residents to take part in gardening as a wonderful way to stay active, social, and engaged. Gardening offers gentle physical exercise, helping to improve mobility and well-being, while also reducing stress and promoting relaxation. It’s a great opportunity for residents to connect with one another, share experiences, and work together towards a common goal. The sense of achievement in nurturing plants and seeing them flourish boosts mood and self-esteem, creating a fulfilling and positive environment for everyone involved.

Games
At Mary’s Home, we love bringing residents together through games like bingo and skittles, which offer both fun and important social and health benefits. These activities encourage light physical movement, keeping residents active and engaged while also stimulating the mind. Playing games together fosters a sense of community, as residents enjoy friendly competition, laughter, and shared moments. They help improve coordination, memory, and focus while boosting confidence and overall well-being. Most importantly, they create a warm and joyful atmosphere where everyone feels included and connected.

Music Therapy
Music therapy is a cherished part of life at Mary’s Home, bringing joy, connection, and a host of benefits to our residents. Visiting musicians create a lively and engaging atmosphere, encouraging everyone to join in with popular songs, clap along, or simply enjoy the melodies. Music has a powerful way of evoking memories, lifting spirits, and reducing stress, making it especially valuable for emotional well-being. Singing together fosters a sense of community, while the rhythm and movement involved can help with coordination and relaxation. Most importantly, it’s a wonderful way for residents to express themselves and share moments of happiness with others.
